QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Frequently asked questions.
We’ll continue adding to these FAQs as new questions come up. In the meantime, we’ve tried to anticipate the most common queries and hope you’ll find the answers you need throughout the website. If there’s anything you think we should include, we’d love to hear your suggestions. And of course, if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Uig Community Shop is located 4 miles away in Timsgarry. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am–5pm, with extended evening hours during the summer months. The shop is well stocked and offers groceries, fuel with a 24/7 self-service payment terminal, a launderette, post office, and cash ATM.
There are also supermarkets in Stornoway and a grocery shop in Tarbert if you’d prefer to stock up before arriving. You’ll find links to these on our Eat page, where you can also check locations and up-to-date opening hours.
We welcome up to two well-behaved dogs per pod, with a surcharge of £10 per booking.
As dog owners ourselves, we know how important it is to be able to bring your four-legged companion along when travelling. Dogs are very welcome at Bothan na Mara, but as we are located within a crofting community where sheep roam freely, we do ask guests to follow a few important ground rules.
Please be mindful of sheep, as they can panic easily, and keep your dog under control at all times. Dogs must not roam unaccompanied outside the gated area surrounding the shepherd’s hut.
We also ask that you clean up after your dog, keep pets off the furniture, and do not leave them unattended in the hut while you are out.
Our cancelation policy
If you cancel 30 days or more before your arrival then you will be charged 12.5% of your stay.
If you cancel 29 days or less before your arrival then you will be charged the full cost of your booking.
In the event of a no show or booking reduction (after arrival date) the full cost of the booking is charged.
